[06 May 2007] SEACF Annual Meeting 2007

This year annual meeting will be held in Bandar Seri Bagawan, Brunei Darussalam. The meeting itself will be held on June 30. Hope all members could attend this impportant event to the future of our organisation.

Agendas that will be disccussed in this one day meeting could be: SEA Games Issue, The Future of SEA Circuit, SEA Climbing Standards, and sport climbing development in other ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Laos, Campuchea, and Timor Leste.

Other issues that could be included in the meeting migth be IFSC-ACC meeting 2007 in Japan and the future of sport climbing in Olimpic movement.

[06 May 2007] Busy Coming Time...

From now on all member of SEACF must be prepared to face a busy times this year. At least there will 3 competition in the July 2007: Asian Youth Climbing Cup in Yogyakarta (Indonesia) July 8-10, SEA Climbing Circuit 2007 1st Leage Yogyakarta 11-12 July and Asian Youth Climbing Championship 2007 Singapore 14015 July.

[09 Apr 2007] ASEAN Inter-School/University Climbing Championship

In the last year SEACF meeting has decided that SEACF will initiate inter-school/university climbing championship in 2008, abour one year from now.

Objective of the event is to promote climbing in school and campus, that feel very effective so far. Also we believe that our future leader come from school and campus, and hope our leader is climbing lover.

It's mean, this year we have to prepare a team that will compete next year. In the next SEACF meeting in Brunei Darussalam will be decided format of the competition.

[06 Apr 2007] Sport Climbing in The SEA Games 2007

Thailand Sport Climbing Association (TSCA) still in effort to deal with Thai's National Olympic Committee to include sport climbing the next SEA Games 2007 in Thailand.

In the last SEA Games 2005 in Manila, sport climbing was informal sport exhibition that held in Quizon City of Manila. Since then SEACF never stop in trying to include sport climbing into SEA Games. TSCA has gotten a informal promise from Thai NOC to demo sport climbing in the 2007 SEA Games. This promise must be followed up by other SEACF's members.

To follow up the above, SEACF will held ASEAN Youth Championship 2007 and the second series of the Southeast Climbing Circuit 2007 all the events will be deemed as a demo sport in the 2007 SEA Games.

[06 Apr 2007] SEACF implement the Southeast Asia Climbing Standards (SEACS).

Six federations members of SEACF have agreed to implement the Southeast Asia Climbing Standards (SEACS) in the ASEAN region start from January 1, 2007. The agreement taken in unschedule meeting was held in Singapore Expo during the UIAA World Cup Climbing 2006 in Singapore.

The SEACS adopted from Singapore National Climbing Standards (SNCS) that already implemented in Singapore by Singapore Mountaineering Federation (SMF) since July 1998.

The standards will apply in climbing procedures, equipments and facilities in the sport and adventure. There is possibility that the standards will include climbing activities in commercial field.

The next step in the implementation of the standards is a course for instructors that will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in March 2-6. The course will host by Persatuan Mendaki Malaysia (PMM) in Kompleks Belia dan Sukan Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur.

The main objective of the standards is to maintain safety climbing activities among ASEAN climbers. Other objective is to foster climbing development in the region.
